You have been a counselor for several years mostly working with people who have depression and anxiety. You have been seeing Joe a 26- year- old single Caucasian male. Joe is a college graduate and has been working as a business manager for a local car dealership. Joe initially came to treatment for anxiety he has been doing very well over the last two months. Joe arrives for his appointment today nervous and tells you he needs to share information with you and needs help. Joe tells you he is in a homosexual relationship and his partner of 2 years is going to break up with him if he does not come out to his parents and include him in family events. Joe is afraid to tell his parents he is gay. The knowledge of Joe being gay is troubling to you because of your religious convictions. These types of relationships are against your religion and you do not accept this lifestyle. The ethical dilemma for you is are you able to treat Joe without bias?
