Organization:
I) Introduction: In one or two paragraphs, explain why you selected your particular topic. What was it that captured your attention? Provide an overview of what you intend to cover in your essay.
II) Body: Go beyond the “…was born in such-and-such year in some location…etc.” Dig deep. If you find the information boring, so will I. Include at least three specific works that illustrate the points you make. Address questions like, why was the work created?, who was the patron?, what is the significance of the work today? Images should include a caption stating title, date, and medium.
III) Conclusion: Summarize the main points of your essay and briefly reflect on why you feel your chosen artist or idea is important. Briefly describe how the artist or idea has influenced you. Will it change the way you look at art, music, literature, sculpture, or architecture going forward? Has it affected your general outlook on things in some way?
IV) Works Cited Page: Your essay must have at least THREE resources including at least one book (excluding your textbook). This means you will need to visit a library, either in-person or online. Books, journals, “real” newspapers, (not tabloids), published interviews, etc., are acceptable sources. “Wikipedia” and Blogs may NOT be used as references.
